Handcrafted Hanji Fan
Crafted by the Namwon Choi Soobong Fan Craft Research Institute, South Korea.
A poetic union of heritage and contemporary design, this hand fan was created exclusively for Vasa New York using hanji paper featuring a signature pattern by the design house Toolpress. Inspired by the hazy brightness of a Korean summer, it captures a season that feels both vivid and weightless.
Each fan is meticulously handcrafted by master artisan Choi Soobong workshop in Namwon. The ribs and handle are carved from Hadong-grown bamboo—each piece distinct in grain, tone, and texture—making every fan one of a kind. The hanji, hand-dyed and printed with poetic floral motifs, is then carefully applied and dried through a traditional multi-step process.
Merging the graceful, sweeping comb-pattern lines of Korean fan craft with modern aesthetics, this piece quietly balances form and function. The handle bears a seal reading “Namwon Choi Soobong,” certifying its authenticity.
Please note:
Subtle marks or mottling may appear on the paper due to the natural drying of hanji and glue. These are not defects, but unique features of the handmade process.
Each fan is individually crafted and may vary slightly in shape, color, or pattern placement. All sales are final; we are unable to accept returns or exchanges.
